Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 208 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, which remain superficial and repetitive. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments are not fully extended or supported with sufficient detail. For instance, the point about 'poor and needy people' is mentioned but not explored in depth. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the final paragraph. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length to allow for a comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In my opinion' and 'For example', but they are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'Explaining some of the other supporting point in favour of this statement is that...'. Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is unfinished, which disrupts the overall flow and coherence of the argument. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring each paragraph is fully developed will help improve the logical flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'better quality' and 'free of cost' multiple times. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'water pumps that is free of cost' (a pump is a device, not the water itself) and 'the water supply is become expensive'. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items related to the topic, such as 'utility', 'subsidized', 'infrastructure', or 'public health initiatives', and ensure they are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'many people should have a water pumps' and 'the water supply is become expensive'. Articles are also used incorrectly or omitted, for example, 'live a happy and freely from stressful life'. While there is an attempt to use complex sentence structures, these are often grammatically flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for basic errors is essential.
