Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health benefits and government expenditure, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on 'amebiasis' is a good start but is not fully linked to the broader economic argument of why water should be free versus subsidized. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly supports your thesis. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the transition 'While private institution can provide...' which does not logically contrast with the previous sentence. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where pronouns like 'it' are used without a clear antecedent. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel somewhat abrupt. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') would help improve the logical flow between your points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices and collocations, such as 'descent way' (likely meaning 'decent'), 'install in every houses' (should be 'installed in every house'), and 'qualified products'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly opaque. To improve, focus on learning common collocations related to public policy and health, and pay closer attention to word forms (e.g., using 'houses' vs 'house'). The range is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility needed for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('People is essential', 'every home should have water supply'), article usage ('a have a role'), and sentence structure errors ('There's real issue of water is a basic human right'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent and occur in both simple and complex structures. You rely heavily on simple sentence patterns, and attempts at more complex structures often result in errors that impede clarity. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
