Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, ending abruptly at 212 words. This significantly impacts the development of your ideas, as the conclusion is missing and the final argument is incomplete. While you address the prompt and present a clear position, the under-length nature of the essay prevents a full development of your arguments. To improve, ensure you plan your time to allow for a full introduction, two well-developed body paragraphs, and a clear conclusion. The ideas presented are relevant, but they require more depth and a complete structure to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, and you use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'As a result'. However, the flow is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the final sentence. The progression of ideas is logical, but the lack of a concluding paragraph makes the overall structure feel unfinished. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that you use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more fluidly. The current use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary society', 'sustainable consumption', and 'waterborne diseases'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'highly debates issue' (should be 'highly debated issue') and 'providing unlimited its' (which is grammatically unclear). Spelling errors like 'hapatitus' also occur. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that your word choices are grammatically accurate within the context of the sentence.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'partly agree with this notion that providing unlimited its without charge is best solution' (missing articles and subject). There are also issues with punctuation and sentence fragments, particularly at the end of the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and ensuring that every sentence is complete and grammatically sound. Proofreading for basic errors will help improve your score significantly.
