Student answer (Band 5.5)
Clean water is a basic right for every human even they live anywhere of the earth and every countries's government should provide clean water every home without any charges. I fully agree this statement and have some reasons which below the paragraph.
First of all, every person has needs and the basic needs for survival is food, clean water, house and clothes. In our earth some places has water but some countries where very high temperature -0 degrees or more and in desserts where no water in the earth. In these places government provide water and charge them. For instance, people pay taxes in our salary and almost pay tax in every product but government didn't provide clean water free of charge. so, government should provide clean water their people free of cost because they has basic need and right for every human.
Secondly, In developing countries government established a water plants in every village, town and cities, where people take water for their daily need. So, government use this idea for providing water free of charge, moreover people pay taxes and they have a right to government give them clean water facility same as they made government schools, hospitals and free shelters. For example, some decades ago, clean water is not a problem but now every home have gutter which cause to dirty water. Now government should think about this big problem because water is basic human right and need of every human.
To sum up, lots of places in our world where people drink dirty water against their will and which cause to many diseases which harmful for people and some diseases cause the death of many people. Therefore, every person have a right to take advantages of government facilities on behalf of taxes.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention taxes and the role of government, the arguments lack depth and specific, well-explained examples. For instance, the mention of 'water plants' in developing countries is a good starting point, but it is not fully connected to the argument of why it should be free of charge. To improve, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-supported point that directly reinforces your stance. Avoid over-generalizing and try to provide more nuanced reasoning regarding the economic implications of 'free' services.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Secondly', and 'To sum up' to signpost your arguments. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'which below the paragraph' or 'moreover people pay taxes'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, making some sentences feel disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid and natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive language (e.g., 'basic need', 'clean water', 'government'). There are also noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'every countries's government' (should be 'every country's government') and 'cause to dirty water' (should be 'cause water to become dirty'). To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to public services and human rights to demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they has basic need'), article usage (e.g., 'established a water plants'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'even they live anywhere of the earth'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb forms, to ensure your writing is more polished and professional.
