Student answer (Band 5.0)
INTRODUCTION:
Yes i agree with this statement that water is a basic human right and it is quite necessary because it is used in our daily routines like used in kitchnes,wach-rooms as well as it is used for drinking purposes.
MAIN BODY PARAGRAPH 1:
Government should take interest about this basic problem of water that it is very important, we can not live without water. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge.
For example there is a home in which there is no water so peoples should face many difficulties and problem because they can not work without water, water is used in cleaning if there can be no cleanliness without water, and if we can not clean our houses there are many diseases which may spread and it can also damage human health.
MAIN BODY PARAGRAPH 2:
The water which is also use for drinking, our problem is that there is no avalibility of water, if we found water the water is not fresh, no pure water, without pure water there is no life we can not survive without drinking. So Government should take such steps that we drink pure water and we use water for other necessity.
Conclusion:
According to my opinion we should save water by own, we should safe rain water and solve our basic need, do not waste water and In conclusion, I strongly agree that access to clean water is a basic human right. However, providing unlimited water completely free of charge may not be practical, so governments should ensure that every household has access to an affordable and reliable water supply.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a position on whether water should be free. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the introduction and conclusion state a clear position, the body paragraphs are repetitive and lack depth. The argument in the second paragraph is somewhat contradictory, as it shifts from advocating for free water to acknowledging that 'unlimited water completely free of charge may not be practical.' The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level, lacking the necessary elaboration or specific examples to fully support the argument. To improve, focus on developing each point with clear reasoning and evidence rather than repeating the same points about health and necessity.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical (e.g., 'Therefore', 'For example', 'In conclusion'). Some sentences are poorly connected, making the flow of the argument feel disjointed. For instance, the transition from the importance of water to the issue of water availability in the second paragraph lacks a clear link. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the overall argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey ideas with precision. There are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'take interest about this basic problem' and 'save water by own'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the general message, but it lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more precise academic vocabulary related to social issues and government policy, and avoid repeating simple words like 'water' and 'problem' excessively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('peoples should face'), article usage ('there is no avalibility'), and punctuation. While the meaning is generally clear, these errors are persistent and occasionally distract the reader. Complex structures are attempted but are often inaccurate or poorly constructed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, before attempting more complex sentence forms. Proofreading for common errors like 'kitchnes' and 'wach-rooms' is also essential.
