Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the contemporary era, hygienic water is the basic necessity of every human being. In my view, I strongly believe that mineral water should be provided to every citizen for free .This essay will discuss about the provision of a water supply

Living in the era of industralisation where everything is available and ready to access, drinking water or clean water is often neglected due to many cases. One of them includes water pollution and scarcity ,due to this many are unable to get proper access to drinking water. Since human population cannot survive without water, government should allocate a water supply especially in the regions where the climate is hot and humid.

For example, in the desert region of Rajasthan the legal authorities concerning natural resources should put up a supply of water from the nearby rivers or seas which inturn should filter the dirt particles out and provide free access to mineral water. In addition, this would inturn boost the economy by attracting a huge number of population and foster the health of the individuals living in the nearby area. Also, it significantly reduces water scarcity. Therefore, citizens can easily access clean drinking water without being concerned for wastage

In conclusion, I strongly agree that each and every individual has the right to free mineral water to use and every home should be provided with supply of water by the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the essay introduces the topic and provides a supporting example regarding Rajasthan, the arguments remain underdeveloped. The discussion lacks depth regarding the economic or logistical implications of providing free water, and the conclusion is brief. Because the response is under-length, the ideas are not fully extended, leading to a lower score in task achievement as the prompt is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, body, and conclusion. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical. While some cohesive devices are used, such as 'For example' and 'In addition', the flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the general statement about water rights and the specific example of Rajasthan could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall structure feels thin due to the limited length of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There is some repetition of terms like 'water' and 'supply'. The student attempts to use some academic vocabulary, such as 'contemporary era' and 'industrialisation', but there are minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'foster the health' and 'put up a supply'. The range is sufficient to convey the message, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophisticated control expected at higher levels.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'This essay will discuss about' (unnecessary preposition), 'human population cannot survive' (missing article), and 'in turn' being written as 'inturn'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. A wider variety of error-free complex structures is needed.
