Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's modern world, there is raising a big concern among people that clean water is a basic right for every human, while other individuals may argue that every home should not be provided with free water supply. From my perspective, I personally agree with this viewpoint that every home and people should be provided with free water supply as it is a basic right of every person whether it is a female, male, child or anyone. In this essay, I will narrate some key points that will support my idea.

Let's move towards our topic. As we know that according to our religious belief, It is a right of every person to live freely and have access to every thing that God has created. Furthermore, many evidences can be found in our Holy sacred book "Holy Quran", Allah has mentioned that since the creation of mankind, all human rights are reserved for every person. As water is also a creation of Allah, so every person must have a right to use it freely at no cost.

There is no chance for a person to use it according to his own will. What, if the government set up a specific fee for accessing water for daily use, then it might be possible that the poor will die of thrust. What's more, in this era, people are paying bills for water supply every month and many clean water supply points are charging fee for water like 50Rs for a can.

In conclusion, I would say that every human should be provided with clean water although many people will disagree with my opinion but I really think that it is a basic human right.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument relies heavily on religious references rather than exploring the socio-economic or practical implications of such a policy. The essay lacks a counter-argument analysis, which is necessary for a balanced discussion. The conclusion is brief and does not summarize the main points effectively. To improve, you should provide more diverse arguments, such as the impact on public health or economic sustainability, and ensure that each paragraph develops a distinct, well-supported point.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. The transition phrases used, such as 'Let's move towards our topic', are informal and not suitable for an academic essay. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or repetitive. For example, the use of 'furthermore' and 'in conclusion' is standard, but the internal flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally weak. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'raising a big concern' instead of 'growing concern' and 'die of thrust' (likely meaning 'thirst'). The repetition of basic terms like 'person' and 'every' limits the sophistication of the writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic vocabulary and precise collocations related to the topic, such as 'universal access', 'socio-economic burden', or 'essential utility'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'there is raising a big concern', 'many evidences can be found', and 'every home and people should be provided'. The use of articles and pluralization is inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
