Student answer (Band 5.0)

In basic human rights access to a clean water supply is also a right of every human. And also every home should had a water supply for free of cost. Some people think that free water supply can help them to cover their other expenses and some thinks that without paying bill we can not support our country and no one will know the importance.

In many countries some individual thinks that clean water supply is a very important and obvious service to every citizen or every human being and people should also get free water supply so they can use that money in their other family needs. however every person needs water drinking, making food, washing cloths and many other need which are necessary in every person life.for example we have to drink 15 glass water every day to improve our health and make our selfs and prevent from dehydration.

On the other hand some people think that this is not necessary because for paying tax or bill for water supply or for clean water everyone should pay because it will help the country in development and producing facilities and support to the citizens of that country and people will get the chance to know the importance of clean water .

In conculsion i disgree everyone should pay bill for clean water supply so the everyone will know that how much water is important in life and what is its importance and how wille everyone survive without it .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention that paying for water supports national development, the argument is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. The points regarding health and dehydration are relevant but could be better connected to the core argument about whether water should be free or paid for. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-explained reason that directly supports your thesis, rather than simply restating the prompt or using general observations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'however every person needs water' is used incorrectly to introduce a supporting point rather than a contrast. Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack logical flow, such as the opening sentences which are disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'nevertheless') more accurately to connect your ideas and improve the overall flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple terms like 'important', 'need', and 'people'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'free of cost' (usually just 'free' or 'at no cost') and 'making food' (which should be 'preparing food' or 'cooking'). The spelling of 'conculsion' and 'cloths' (should be 'clothes') also indicates a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'subsidised', 'economic burden', or 'essential utility'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('every home should had'), article usage ('in basic human rights'), and pluralisation ('15 glass water'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and improper spacing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you use articles correctly before nouns.
