Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, you mention that water is important multiple times without providing specific examples or a nuanced discussion on the economic or social implications of free water. The ideas are underdeveloped, and the conclusion is brief and does not effectively summarize the main points. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning with concrete examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'In conclusion', but the internal flow within paragraphs is hindered by repetitive sentence structures and a lack of logical transitions. For example, the second paragraph jumps between the importance of water and the issue of affordability without a clear link. Additionally, the use of referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds logically upon the previous one will enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic words such as 'important', 'water', and 'people' throughout the text. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or an attempt to use precise vocabulary related to the topic of public services or human rights. Phrases like 'many work is not complete' and 'people were very waste the water' show a lack of awareness of natural collocations. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to incorporate a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary and focus on using words in their correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the people is not live'), incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'the people were very waste'), and article usage. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces and incorrect capitalization. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that tenses are used consistently throughout your writing.
