Student answer (Band 6.5)
I completely agree with this statement. Clean water is necessary for various humanly functions throughout the day such as - drinking, bathing, brushing, cooking just to name a few. More than seventy percent of the human body is made up of water and it is physically impossible for any person to sustain themselves without having continued access to clean water.
Poverty stricken families are forced to use unclean water for their daily activities and that leads to weaker immune systems, lesser hygiene and varied health problems for no fault of theirs. As taxpayers, every citizen of every country should have at least one source of clean water supply which is free of charge.
In many villages of the world where people are struggling with their incomes and livelihood, clean water is only provided to them at the start of the day in very less quantities. Families of four to five people are expected to go through an entire day with a measly supply of two buckets of fresh, clean water which is almost the same amount of water an average metro city resident uses for their daily bath. For such families, providing food, shelter and education for their families is already a steep mountain to climb. The least the authorities can do for such people is to facilitate a clean water supply free of charge and with the amount of taxes major governments collect in a fiscal year, this shouldn't affect them even one bit. I hope we see this change soon enough since the predictions of the world are that the next World War will take place due to countries lacking enough clean water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and address the prompt directly. However, the development of your arguments is somewhat limited. While you provide a strong emotional appeal regarding poverty-stricken families, the essay would benefit from a more balanced discussion. For instance, you could briefly acknowledge the economic challenges governments might face in implementing such a policy, then refute them to strengthen your argument. This would demonstrate a more sophisticated level of critical thinking required for higher bands. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a concluding thought. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In many villages' and 'For such families', to guide the reader. However, the transition between the second and third paragraphs is slightly abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is sometimes a bit mechanical. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the progression of ideas between paragraphs is smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, which helps the reader follow your line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Phrases like 'poverty stricken families', 'measly supply', and 'fiscal year' are used effectively. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, such as 'humanly functions' (should be 'human functions') and 'very less quantities' (should be 'very small quantities'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on more precise collocations and avoid informal phrasing to enhance the academic tone of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'the predictions of the world are that' (which is slightly unnatural) and 'this shouldn't affect them even one bit' (which is too informal for an academic essay). Punctuation is generally handled well, though the use of a hyphen in the first paragraph is unnecessary. The majority of your sentences are clear, and errors do not cause difficulty for the reader. To reach a higher band, aim for more varied complex structures and ensure a more formal tone throughout.
