Student answer (Band 4.5)
Water has always been the main source of life in any living being over their life-time. Following that most debate on if fresh water should be provided for everyone of charge. I believe that while having its benefits, maintaining boundaries on its use and distribution should be more significant.
Distributing clean water free of charge can be the core help that poor people need. However, while people of economically disadvantaged backrounds appriciate and value it, other people may not treat it the same. They will

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 85 words. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed, and the ideas presented are severely underdeveloped. While you establish a position in the introduction, the essay stops abruptly before you can provide supporting arguments or examples. To improve, you must expand on your main points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments and providing concrete examples. The current length prevents a full development of the topic, which is a requirement for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is too short to demonstrate a coherent structure or effective paragraphing. While you use a transition word like 'However' to contrast ideas, the abrupt ending makes it impossible to assess the overall logical progression of the argument. To achieve a higher score, you need to organize your ideas into clear paragraphs, each with a topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding thought. Using a wider range of cohesive devices, such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in contrast,' will help link your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is generally basic and contains some spelling errors, such as 'backrounds' (backgrounds) and 'appriciate' (appreciate). The range of vocabulary is limited, which is expected given the very short length of the response. To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'subsidized,' 'resource allocation,' or 'socio-economic status.' Focusing on accurate spelling and using collocations correctly will also help improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is generally understandable, but there are errors in sentence structure and word choice, such as 'every one of charge' instead of 'free of charge.' The range of grammatical structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To reach a higher band, you should practice incorporating complex sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences. Additionally, ensure that your subject-verb agreement and prepositions are used accurately to avoid minor errors that disrupt the flow of your writing.
