Student answer (Band 6.0)

The access to clean water has become an significant issue in many country. Some believed that it's the basic right to get the water supply free of charge. I strongly oppose with the notion and shall justify my opinions on the following paragraph.

One of the point to support my argument is the government should charge for providing water because it is also the source of revenue for the government. If the people get the access of free water then there will be more wastage of water in a country because people will think they are getting it on free and won't take much action for saving the water. For instance, if the person is paying money for the water then he/she will be more responsible towards the water how to save it or how to make the consumption less same thing goes opposite if the water is free for the citizen then they won't be following the things they do will they are paying for it. It is also the way of revenue for the government and through those earning they can use it for development of the nation.

However, it is also thought that the water should be provided for free of cost for the people because it is given by the nature neither the government make it or the people but making it free will also lead to bad impacts in future for the people because there will be no seriousness for saving the water, water is the most essential part for the human to survive and if providing it for free will be wastage of water. Through the help of water government can generate the electricity and also sell the electricity for other countries.

All in all, having discussed the impact to access of free water and taking the charge for water. That it is beneficial for all the people in present and also in coming days for paying the charges and supporting the nation in many ways. Hence I believe the government should take the charge from their citizen

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You argue against free water, citing economic revenue and the prevention of wastage as your primary reasons. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding water wastage is repeated in both the second and third paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point rather than restating the same concept. While your position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more nuanced and logically extended to fully explore the implications of your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the flow between and within sentences is often mechanical. You rely on basic transitions like 'One of the point' and 'All in all,' and some sentences are run-on or lack clear logical connectors. For example, the sentence 'For instance, if the person is paying money for the water then he/she will be more responsible...' is quite long and lacks smooth internal cohesion. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the logical progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You use basic terms like 'significant issue,' 'basic right,' and 'bad impacts.' There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'take the charge from their citizen' instead of 'charge citizens' or 'levy fees.' To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to economics and public policy, such as 'subsidization,' 'fiscal revenue,' or 'resource management.' Additionally, be careful with word forms, as you occasionally confuse nouns and verbs.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Some believed that it's the basic right'), article usage ('in many country'), and prepositional errors ('oppose with the notion'). Furthermore, some sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'the things they do will they are paying for it.' While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy will be very beneficial.
