Student answer (Band 5.5)

water is like a lifeline of humans even animals without it people do not survive in the world. Although purifier water is the prominent right of humans and it is crucial that clean water is given in the every home I partially agree with this viewpoint.

To commence with, clean water should be provided to people without charging any fees because of this everyone can easily get clean water to drink, cook, apart from this, the possibility of spreading disease such as fever, malaria, also reduced among people too. moreover, government can also focus on other issues such as employment, building relationship with other countries if people of their country are healthy in addition the economic growth of country also boost and that amount can spend on necessary things.

on contrary to this, providing water without charge to every home is not beneficial, first of all if free of water is given to people then they not understand the value of water and waste the on washing home, cars, without need which leads to water shortage and the country suffered. furthermore, massive amount of water wastage lead to stress on government about the storage of water hence, for clean water people will have to depend on others which results economy reduction, wastage, and so on.

To sum up, water is necessary for live for both human and animals however, providing water without charges have both pros such as less chances of health issues and cons such as wastage of water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by presenting a balanced view, acknowledging the importance of clean water while arguing against free provision due to potential wastage. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'economic growth' is mentioned but not fully explained or linked logically to the provision of water. The conclusion is also quite brief and lacks a final synthesis of the arguments. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your supporting points with more specific examples or deeper reasoning to ensure the argument is fully developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'moreover', and 'on contrary to this'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'on contrary to this' (should be 'on the contrary') and 'apart from this' used in a run-on sentence structure. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by grammatical errors, making the reading experience slightly disjointed in places.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use some relevant terms like 'lifeline', 'prominent right', and 'water shortage'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'purifier water' (should be 'purified water'), 'economy reduction' (should be 'economic decline'), and 'stress on government' (should be 'burden on the government'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it is not used with enough flexibility or sophistication to move beyond the 6.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Common issues include missing articles ('the country suffered'), incorrect verb forms ('amount can spend' instead of 'amount can be spent'), and punctuation errors, particularly with run-on sentences. For example, the first paragraph contains several clauses joined only by commas. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and proper sentence boundary punctuation will significantly improve your score.
