Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position against free water supply, the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. The arguments regarding economic burden and the potential for water wastage are relevant, but they lack sufficient depth and supporting examples to reach a higher band. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully addressed and that your essay is complete, providing a full conclusion that synthesizes your main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a basic attempt at logical progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore'. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors and the abrupt ending of the essay. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas could be smoother. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to your central argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'grate' instead of 'great', 'expansive' instead of 'expensive', and 'alots' instead of 'a lot of'. Additionally, some word choices are unnatural, such as 'expert works' instead of 'skilled workers'. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading your work to correct basic spelling mistakes. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic terms would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the basic necessity for to the living being', 'it give freedom', and 'at free of cost' (should be 'free of charge'). There are also issues with article usage and subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
