Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments provided—such as water being a 'nature mineral' and the need for energy—are somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The essay lacks depth in discussing the economic or logistical implications of providing free water, which would have strengthened the argument. While the position is consistent, the supporting points are not fully extended, leading to a somewhat superficial treatment of the topic. The conclusion merely restates the introduction without synthesizing the points made.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, phrases like 'Explaining some of the another supporting points' are awkward and do not flow naturally. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between 'neat water' and 'livelihood' is not logically explained. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede communication. For instance, 'neat water' is used instead of 'clean water,' and 'nature minerals' is an inaccurate term for a natural resource. The student struggles to use precise terminology, relying on basic words like 'issue,' 'thing,' or 'type.' The range is insufficient to express complex ideas fluently, and the errors in word formation (e.g., 'provided' instead of 'providing') are noticeable throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that affect readability. There are persistent issues with verb forms ('it can caused,' 'government should provided'), subject-verb agreement ('human body are made'), and sentence structure. Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, leading to confusion. While the meaning is generally discernible, the reader must work hard to interpret the intended message due to the lack of control over basic grammar and syntax. Simple sentences are used, but even these often contain errors in tense or word order.
