Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, there is considerable debate about whether water supply should be provided free in every home. I completely disagree with this view because I know access to clean water is a basic human right, but if it would free of cost for 24 hours people doesn't value it.
One of the main reasons why it should not be free of cost is to save the water. This is because many individuals often used excessive amount of water for doing unnecessary things. This eventually leads to wastage of water. For example, the recent survey shows the rapid decline in water from earth. Therefore, it is very significant to make some regulation of using water in households and industries.
Another important reason is to save the environment. In other words, if people used the water

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 133 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the arguments regarding water conservation and environmental impact are under-developed due to the lack of length. To improve, you must expand on your points with specific examples and ensure the essay reaches the required length to fully address all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows a basic attempt at paragraphing, but the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall logical progression. You use some cohesive devices like 'One of the main reasons' and 'Another important reason', which help to structure the argument. However, because the text is incomplete, the flow is interrupted. To improve, focus on completing your thoughts and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting evidence and a concluding statement.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and limited in range. Phrases like 'free of cost' and 'save the water' are functional but basic. There is an attempt to use some academic vocabulary, such as 'considerable debate' and 'excessive amount', which is positive. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are several grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. For instance, 'if it would free of cost' should be 'if it were free of cost', and 'people doesn't value it' should be 'people do not value it'. Additionally, there is inconsistent tense usage, such as 'many individuals often used' instead of 'often use'. The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your accuracy.
