Student answer (Band 5.5)

Availability of pure water is a fundamental need of Homo sapiens. So that every household should provided by supply of water free of cost. I completely agree with this view.

Water is the basic unit of life in earth. Not only humans but all living organisms depend on water to survive in environment. If water is given free of cost by the government so not only humans but also plants or trees become abundant in the country and hence the air quality of area will also be improved. A study in 2019 by an health organization shows that countries with free supply of water has 40 percent more better air quality than the countries which takes charges of water because if the water is free people easily use it for forestation without many expense.

In my perspective, pure water should give without any charge to the local areas because drinking dirty water would be detrimental to health as it contains several bacteria's which can lead to many diseases such as typhoid, malaria and many other. by providing complimentary water the locals can live a healthy life and can lead to development of country. It also reduce burden of expense from the people so there stress will become less. In my village recently government resolve the issue of dirty water and building pipelines of clean crystal water and now in it's hospital rate of patients have decreased significantly.

In conclusion, water should provided costless so that there will be less burden on people and the health issues will also resolve.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding health benefits and economic relief are relevant. However, the development of ideas is somewhat simplistic. For instance, the claim that free water leads to better air quality via forestation is a tenuous link that lacks logical depth. The essay would benefit from a more nuanced discussion of the economic implications of 'free' water, such as how governments would fund the infrastructure. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments are occasionally underdeveloped or rely on questionable assertions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'In my perspective' and 'So that every household' are used awkwardly, and the transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the vague mention of a 'study in 2019' without context. While the overall progression of ideas is discernible, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive sentence structures hinder the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'pure water' instead of 'clean water' or 'potable water', and 'costless' instead of 'free of charge'. The use of 'bacteria's' is a grammatical error that also affects lexical accuracy. While the meaning is always clear, the student relies on a limited set of words and struggles with more sophisticated academic terminology.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that persist throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('every household should provided'), missing articles ('in earth', 'in it's hospital'), and incorrect verb forms ('pure water should give'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the misuse of apostrophes (e.g., 'bacteria's'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures.
