Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge . Yes , I agree with this . Water is basically the most important and needed thing in a human life . Multiple diseases are caused by dirty water or infected water , so such basic need in a human life should be fulfilled.
Moreover the advantage of providing clean water in every home in a disciplined system would take place . If we see around the world due to shortage of rains and changes in climate and weather people are suffering from shortage of water . Additionally, dams should be built and such systems must take place in which every house may be provided with clean water . Big water filtrations must be created and such a system should take place where every human being without any sort of problems , have the facility of clean water .
On the other hand , there are some disadvantages too that take harm the environment as well. A country is dependent on the economy that people pay through bills and taxes. If totally free service of water is provided in every house , it would be a hard for the government to handle .
In conclusion , Clean water is a basic requirement of human but such system and economy with more development must be established so people would live a better life and the country may be developed more .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is limited. While you acknowledge the importance of water as a human right, the arguments regarding the economic feasibility of free water are underdeveloped. For instance, you mention that it would be 'hard for the government to handle' but do not explain why or provide concrete examples of how this could be managed through alternative funding or taxation. To reach a higher band, you need to extend your arguments with specific examples or logical consequences rather than simply stating them. The conclusion is also somewhat vague, lacking a summary of your main points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive. For example, the phrase 'such a system should take place' is used multiple times, which makes the flow feel slightly unnatural. While there is a logical progression from the benefits to the drawbacks, the transitions between sentences could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') would improve the overall flow and coherence of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'thing', 'dirty', and 'big'. Phrases such as 'take harm the environment' and 'take place' are used incorrectly or in a way that sounds unnatural. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'infrastructure', 'financial burden', 'public utility', or 'sanitation'. Expanding your range to include less common vocabulary will help demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally hinder clarity. For example, 'a hard for the government' is grammatically incorrect, and there are issues with article usage and sentence fragments. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to vary your sentence structure by using more complex clauses to demonstrate better control over your writing.
