Student answer (Band 5.5)
Access to clean water is essential for human health, and it is widely considered a basic human right. I believe that everyone should have access to safe drinking water, but I do not believe that an unlimited water supply should be provided completely free or free of charge. In my opinion, governments should ensure that basic water needs are affordable while charging people for excessive consumption.
The main reason for providing safe drinking water is that it is necessary for maintaining health and self hygiene as well as preventing water borne deceases. People also needs clean water for cooking purpose. For example areas where clean water is not available children may suffer from water deceases or may be hepatitis. Therefor, governments should invest on clean water resources and make surety and easy access to clean and safe drinking water for everyone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response is significantly under-length at only 142 words, failing to meet the 250-word minimum requirement. This severely limits the development of your ideas. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the body paragraph is underdeveloped and lacks the necessary depth to fully explore the complexities of the prompt. Because the response is incomplete and fails to provide a full argument, it cannot progress beyond a Band 5 for Task Achievement. To improve, you must expand your points with more detailed explanations and additional examples to meet the word count requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay shows a basic logical structure with an introduction and a body paragraph. You use some cohesive devices like 'For example' and 'Therefore' to link ideas. However, the abrupt ending (the letter 'T') and the lack of a concluding paragraph negatively impact the overall coherence. The progression of ideas is clear, but the limited length prevents the development of a cohesive, well-structured argument. To improve, ensure you include a clear introduction, at least two well-developed body paragraphs, and a concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally appropriate for the topic, using terms like 'essential', 'affordable', and 'excessive consumption'. However, there are some spelling errors, such as 'deceases' instead of 'diseases' and 'self hygiene' instead of 'personal hygiene'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited due to the brevity of the text. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure accurate spelling of key terms related to the topic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'People also needs' (subject-verb agreement) and 'may be hepatitis' (incorrect preposition/structure). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is somewhat repetitive. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
