Student answer (Band 6.0)

Indubitably, human body is made up of around 70% of water and people cannot survive without water because of their body requirements. It is often argued that access to clean water is a basic human right and each house should receive free water facilities. I strongly agree with this and the reasons for the same will be articulated in the subsequent paragraphs.

At the outset, there are several factors of free supply of water and first and foremost is its health benefits. To explain It more, if citizens of a country receive access to clean water; their health is improved and as a consequence, people will be able to work efficiently without any hindrance because of any disease and as a result, it will lead to financial stability of the nation. For example, poor people cannot afford to pay even for such a necessity and they tend to drink water with impurities which causes various health effects.

Moreover, if government of a country regulates the supply of water, their expenditure on facilities such as hospitals will decrease as people will get not catch diseases easily which further will reduce the number of deaths in a nation. Additionally, water is basic requirement for humans to stay alive, in current times, amount of available clean water is declining rapidly because of its wastage by people. So, government should focus more on generating clean water from oceans for the coming generations.

To recapitulate, as per my perspective, access and supply of clean water is definitely required to all individuals in order to maintain their health, economy of a country and besides, keeping in mind, the need of water for coming generations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. The ideas presented, such as the link between clean water, public health, and economic stability, are relevant and well-supported. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding generating water from oceans is introduced abruptly in the third paragraph without sufficient explanation of how this relates to the 'free of charge' aspect of the prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point directly reinforces your central argument about the necessity of free water provision.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'At the outset,' 'Moreover,' and 'To recapitulate' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the health benefits and the government's role in the third paragraph is a bit abrupt. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'articulated,' 'hindrance,' and 'financial stability.' There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'get not catch diseases' and 'basic requirement for humans to stay alive.' While these do not impede communication, they highlight a need for more precise collocation. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to public policy and socio-economic issues, and pay closer attention to how words naturally pair together in English.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'human body is made up of around 70% of water' (missing article 'the') and 'if citizens of a country receive access to clean water; their health is improved' (incorrect use of a semicolon). Additionally, there are minor issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and proofreading for basic grammatical slips will help you achieve a higher score in this criterion.
