Student answer (Band 5.5)

It has been become basic human necessity of access to clean water. In the modern era, the pollution drastically detoriates the quality of water. Most of the countries have to rely on unfiltered water which is ruining the health of humans. The communities work really hard to setup water implants so that they able to get pure water.

Considering the health and wellness factors of humans, I partially agree with the statement that water should be supplied to every household. Regarding to cost, it could be flexible. The families which can afford the cost of water could be in paid catagorey while the households that are not able to pay the cost of clean water should be facilitated. Moreover, the government should make policies to encourage divisions and districts to build resources of clean water. They should consider the value of clean water when they make annual budget. The implimentation of law of check and balance for distribution of pure water among households should be held.

For example, in recent years, many countries like Africa and Asia has been reported the spread of cholera. This is the disease which is spread due to the exposure to unclean water. This all happened due to lack of access of clean water.

In conclusion, the clean water is basic need of people. It should be supplied to every household. In respect of payment, athuarities could consider the financial status of families. Overall, by doing this we can mitigate the risk of disease and improve human wellbeing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear, albeit nuanced, position. You acknowledge the importance of water as a human right while proposing a tiered payment system. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the suggestion that governments should 'encourage divisions and districts' is vague and lacks specific detail on how this would function in practice. The example regarding cholera in Africa and Asia is relevant but could be better integrated to support your argument about why free water is necessary for public health. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with concrete reasoning or evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing government policy to the cholera example lacks a smooth connecting phrase. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'This all happened' in the third paragraph, which refers back to a broad concept rather than a specific antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors ('detoriates', 'catagorey', 'implimentation', 'athuarities') and word choice issues ('water implants' instead of 'water treatment plants'). These errors occasionally distract the reader, though they do not prevent understanding. You have attempted to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'mitigate the risk' and 'financial status', which is positive. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and ensuring that collocations are accurate, such as using 'water treatment facilities' rather than 'water implants'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('many countries... has been reported'), article usage ('the clean water is basic need'), and awkward phrasing ('It has been become basic human necessity'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limit the score. To improve, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that articles (a/an/the) are used correctly before nouns. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help.
