Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent and often lacks depth. While you mention the importance of water for health and the role of government, the arguments are frequently interrupted by personal anecdotes or repetitive statements. The connection between the argument for free water and the practical implementation is weak. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly supports your thesis, rather than drifting into personal stories about your hometown or general complaints about taxes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no clear paragraphing, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your argument. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the abrupt transition to the example of Bhakra Dam. The flow of ideas is disjointed, and the lack of proper punctuation, including the absence of capital letters and run-on sentences, further hinders coherence. To improve, you should organize your essay into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, two body paragraphs with clear topic sentences, and a conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic words like 'water', 'people', and 'good/best' throughout the text. There are numerous spelling errors (e.g., 'pepole', 'diharation', 'authrties', 'impofrtan', 'envoirment') that frequently impede readability. While you attempt to use some topic-related vocabulary like 'natural resource' and 'hydro power', the overall range is insufficient to express complex ideas clearly. You need to focus on learning more precise academic vocabulary and improving your spelling accuracy to convey your points effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is significantly flawed, with frequent errors in sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. Many sentences are run-on, lacking proper terminal punctuation or capitalization. For example, 'because you do not drink water you suffer lots of problem' lacks necessary articles and correct verb forms. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the frequent errors often make the meaning difficult to decipher. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using correct punctuation to separate your thoughts.
