Student answer (Band 5.5)
In the modern era, Access to clean water is a basic human right. therefore, every household should have a water supply that is gave to free of charge. I partially agree with this statement, but they have also pros and cons. Furthermore, this essay will discuss both perspectives before presenting my own opinion.
To begin with, access to clean water is a basic human right because it provides many benefits. For example, if people drink clean water, they are more likely to have better health and suffer from fewer diseases. Furthermore, Clean water is essential for cooking. If people cook with clean water, they are less likely to suffer from waterborne diseases. while good hygiene is important for maintaining our health. Moreover, people need clean water for basic daily activities. For instance, if people wash their clothes with clean water, they can wear fresh and clean clothes.
From my point of view, the government should not provide clean water completely free of charge because, people may waste a large amount of water on unnecessary activities, such as washing their cars or cleaning their houses excessively. they should provide a limit amount of water that is sufficient to meet their basics needs.
In conclusion, I believe that access to clean water is a basic right because clean water is essential for basic daily activities and maintain the hygiene such as clean water protect from waterborne disease. however, I also believe that people should not waste the clean water because water is important for them.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the human right to water and the economic implications of providing it for free. However, the development is somewhat limited. While you present a clear position, the arguments regarding the 'pros and cons' are repetitive, particularly the focus on health and hygiene. To improve, you should expand on the economic or social consequences of free water beyond just 'waste,' perhaps discussing infrastructure costs or the responsibility of the state versus the individual. The conclusion is a bit simplistic and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'they have also pros and cons,' where the pronoun 'they' lacks a clear antecedent. Additionally, the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next rather than relying on repetitive sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'clean water,' 'basic,' and 'good.' There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'gave to free of charge' (should be 'provided free of charge') and 'limit amount' (should be 'limited amount'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'subsidized,' 'infrastructure,' 'sustainability,' or 'essential utility.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'Access to clean water is a basic human right. therefore...' (incorrect capitalization and punctuation), 'water supply that is gave to free' (incorrect verb form), and 'maintain the hygiene' (article error). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct verb forms, and consistent punctuation to improve your accuracy.
