Student answer (Band 6.0)
Water is an essential part of our lives. Clean water access is vital and is considered a basic human right. Therefore, every household should receive free of cost water supply. I strongly believe this notion. This essay will discuss my agreement on this notion in the upcoming paragraphs.
To begin with, for survival and in basic daily life tasks clean water is very essential. Without water supply most of the day to day life activities are not possible. As the water which is not fit for use leads to various diseases to human race. People generally use water from taps in their home and do not rely on filtered water most of the times so it is important to have access to clean water. Moreover, the supply should be free of charge to avoid this situation. For household chores, we require a large amount of water and in fear of getting huge bill people tend to avoid household chores which leads them to being lazy.
The authorities should consider the conditions of people who cannot afford fresh water because of the high amount of bills, which leads them to drink water wherever they find it and makes them sick. For instance, people living in slums often ignore the fact of drinking water from the filter as they cannot afford the water filter, due to which they have to totally rely on the water coming from taps.
In conclusion, water access is a basic human right, and it should be provided without any cost by the esteemed authorities for a healthy and happy society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that free water prevents laziness is not logically sound and lacks depth. The discussion on the economic burden of water bills is relevant, but the supporting examples, such as the mention of slums, are brief and could be expanded to provide a more persuasive argument. To reach a higher band, you should focus on developing your points with more sophisticated reasoning rather than relying on generalizations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better referencing to avoid repetitive sentence structures. Overall, the structure is coherent and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. However, the range is somewhat limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'essential part of our lives' and 'basic daily life tasks' are quite common. There are also some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'free of cost water supply' (should be 'a free water supply') and 'avoid this situation' (which is vague). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and collocations related to public policy and socio-economic issues.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I strongly believe this notion' (should be 'in this notion'), 'leads to various diseases to human race' (should be 'in the human race'), and 'do not rely on filtered water most of the times' (should be 'most of the time'). Punctuation is generally correct, but the sentence variety is somewhat limited. Improving control over articles and prepositions would significantly enhance the accuracy of your writing.
