Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, water is a basic necessity of every human being. Therefore, Water is supplied to every home free of cost. I strongly agree because water is a blessing from God. Many people don't have enough money to purchase water. So, no one has the right to charge for the water.
The first main reason is that water has been present on Earth for 4.7 billion years since Earth was created. Furthermore, it is God-given, and no one has the right to charge a cost for the water. For example, a man in the Stone Age had access to water free of charge. However, modern humans benefit from the water by paying money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 121 words long. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting evidence required for an academic essay. The response is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full discussion of the topic. To improve, you must expand your arguments with specific examples and ensure you address all parts of the prompt thoroughly while meeting the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall structure. You use some basic cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'However', but the logical flow is hindered by the lack of completion. The progression of ideas is limited because the essay stops before the second main point can be fully articulated. To achieve a higher score, you need to ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence, supporting details, and a concluding thought, all linked by a wider variety of cohesive devices.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally simple and repetitive. Phrases like 'blessing from God' and 'purchase water' are functional but lack the academic tone expected in an IELTS task. There is little attempt to use less common or sophisticated vocabulary. To improve, you should aim to incorporate topic-specific terminology related to economics, public policy, or social welfare. For example, instead of 'purchase water', you could use 'utility fees' or 'financial burden'. Expanding your range of synonyms and collocations will help convey your ideas with more precision and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammar is generally understandable, but the range of structures is very limited. You rely mostly on simple sentences. There are some errors in punctuation and capitalization, such as the unnecessary capitalization of 'Water' in the first paragraph. The sentence structure is basic, and there is a lack of complex grammatical forms, such as conditional clauses or passive voice, which are necessary for higher band scores. Focusing on combining simple sentences into more complex ones using subordinating conjunctions would significantly improve your grammatical range.
