Student answer (Band 6.0)
Clean and hygienic water is among the basic human rights; therefore, each individual house should have access to free water supply. I firmly believe that the free clean water access is every households basic right; meanwhile, there must be some limitations and controls on water consumption and free service to avoid misusage.
Availability of hygienic water is every human basic necessity, every citizen needs water for mainly drinking and other daily usage including cleaning, cooking, bath operation, etc. and United Nation and other international bodies have declared water as a basic human right. Following international laws, Pakistan Government also considers the same, as individual citizen households cannot be left without water availability considering their drinking and basic home operation requirements. Secondly, water must be provided free of cost as every individual cannot afford to pay and it is the responsibility of government bodies. For example, in my house we need water for drinking and for other home works and the same applies to all homes throughout the world. Previous year report shows that 70% Pakistanis cannot afford paid water and might shift to unclean water sources therefore it must be free.
The basic necessity and right of free water access cannot be ignored; however, there must be legal, authoritarian and local controls to avoid the misuse. The water can be used for construction, agriculture and other use does not have clean water requirement; therefore, homes which need water for such activities either need to take special permission and it must be paid. For example, my house receive unpaid clean water for normal usage; however, when I need for any other purpose, we have to take permission and pay for it.
In conclusion, hygienic water is every human basic right, therefore it must be provided free of cost; however, there must be some legal and related restrictions regarding the purpose and charge of water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear position that supports free water as a right while acknowledging the need for regulatory controls. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of international human rights and the distinction between domestic and industrial usage. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the 70% of Pakistanis who cannot afford water is a good attempt at supporting the position, but the explanation remains slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on the socio-economic implications of free water provision more deeply rather than relying on personal examples, which are less effective in an academic essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'secondly', 'however', and 'in conclusion' to link your points. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. For instance, the use of 'therefore' appears frequently, which can make the flow feel slightly stilted. Additionally, some referencing is a bit vague, such as 'the same applies to all homes', which could be more precisely linked to the previous sentence. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'hygienic', 'necessity', 'misusage', and 'authoritarian'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For example, 'bath operation' is not a standard collocation, and 'home works' is usually referred to as 'household chores' or 'domestic tasks'. There are also minor errors in word formation, such as 'every human basic right' instead of 'every human's basic right'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use some complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'the Pakistan Government', 'the free clean water access') and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices, such as in the second paragraph where multiple independent clauses are joined incorrectly. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your main arguments. To improve, focus on proofreading for articles and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly.
