Student answer (Band 6.0)
Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore, every home should be supplied with water that is absolutely free. I couldn't agree more to this statement. This is even one of the Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations, enabling the entire world to work together in achieving sustainable development.
Clean water is not just a basic human right, it is a necessity. It not just quenches our thirst but it is responsible for the overall functioning of the human body. Quoting the example of the reputed philanthropist, Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike for the education rights of the students, he was only having water to remain alive.
Moreover, not just human body, clean water is essential to perform all the household chores as well. You need to wash your clothes, wash your utensils, clean the home and most importantly clean yourself. A person follows his routine everyday, gets tired and sweaty in the process and finally a shower of clean water comes to the rescue to get rid of all the germs and mental stress.
Emphasis on the word "clean" should never be ignored. Water can be consumed and used only if it is clean, otherwise the doors of illnesses and various deadly diseases are opened wide. Many cases of stomach ache and diarrhea are regularly reported especially in slum areas of India, even leading to deaths.
Witnessing this hazardous scenario caused by contaminated water, the government should upscale the infrastructure to make sure that clean water is being supplied to every household. Strict guidelines should be issued for Municipal Corporations to ensure timely supply and that too free of charge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt clearly, maintaining a consistent position throughout. You have successfully identified the importance of clean water as a human right and provided relevant arguments regarding health and hygiene. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the UN goals and the example of Mr. Sonam Wangchuk, the argument regarding the economic feasibility of providing water 'free of charge' is not explored. To reach a higher band, you should consider the counter-arguments or the practical implications of such a policy, as this would provide a more balanced and comprehensive discussion of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, such as health or household utility. You use cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'Finally' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the transition from the personal example of Mr. Wangchuk to the general household chores section is abrupt. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that each paragraph flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'reputed philanthropist,' 'hazardous scenario,' and 'contaminated water' effectively. There are some minor issues with collocation and word choice, such as 'I couldn't agree more to this statement' (should be 'with') and 'the doors of illnesses... are opened wide' (which is slightly unnatural). While you successfully convey your meaning, the range of vocabulary is somewhat standard. To improve, try incorporating more precise academic collocations and idiomatic expressions that fit the formal tone of an essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are recurring grammatical errors. For example, 'It not just quenches our thirst but it is responsible' lacks parallel structure, and 'not just human body' is missing an article. Additionally, there are minor punctuation errors, such as missing commas in complex sentences. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the frequency of these small errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your accuracy.
