Student answer (Band 5.5)

Yes, clean water is the basic human right that should be provided by the government of every country to every home without charging any money. As we know that, our body is mainly composed of 70% of water and all of our metabolic reaction occurrs in the presence of water.Even the enzymes work in the dilute environment. So intially, clean water is the first and foremost for the survival of healthy living organisms.

Furthermore, clean water supply should be installed in homes so that people can easily access it without travelling to vast distances. Natural and clean water also consist of essential minerals that our needed to grow properly and to have a healthy mind and health body.

It should be chargeless because if i brief about my country "Pakistan." It's a under-developed country all the communities here do not get to have clean water easily. The lowest caste and poor people are deprived of it and have to drink dirty water that is not drinkable. So they easily get victim of many water borne diseases such as diarrhoea and typhoid etc. They do not even have enough money to treat these health issues. Therefore, it's the biggest problem in all the underdeveloped nations.

For instance, its the responsibility of government to take care of these type of issues and provide the government with enough necessities so that they get to enjoy at the very least "clean water" in their everyday life. There should be sewage treatment plants present so that people get to have water not incredible enough to drink but to get over with daily household activities.

In my opinion clean water should be provided to all the people and if i ever get the chance i will install clean water taps and provide the people bare minimum.Every person have the luxury to enjoy atleast clean drinking water in their life so they do not have to worry about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. The ideas are relevant, particularly the discussion regarding health implications and the situation in Pakistan. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument relies heavily on personal opinion and anecdotal evidence rather than a broader exploration of the economic or logistical implications of 'free' water. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments could be more sophisticated and balanced to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive and focuses more on personal intent than a summary of the main arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'So intially' or 'if i brief about my country'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, for example, the transition between the biological necessity of water and the economic argument regarding government responsibility feels abrupt. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved to ensure a smoother flow of logic between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'not incredible enough to drink' (likely meaning 'not necessarily') and 'get victim of'. The use of terms like 'chargeless' is non-standard; 'free of charge' or 'subsidized' would be more appropriate. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'metabolic reaction' and 'water-borne diseases', the overall range remains somewhat limited and repetitive.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('all of our metabolic reaction occurrs', 'Every person have'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The use of 'i' instead of 'I' is a recurring error. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is needed.
