Student answer (Band 5.5)
Fresh water must be available to everyone its a human right. so, every house should get a water supply without paying any money. I do not completely agree with this because clean water is a necessity to live and if water is free of charge people will overuse the water
Clean water is basic need of human to live because having clean masses can perform basic hygiene additionally it can keep away from so many dangerous diseases for example, in Mumbai slum area resident don't have access to fresh water and because of this they are suffering from skin diseases furthermore they are also experiencing bad gut health also. In recent survey, a report shows that resident of Mumbai slum area having cavities in their tooth because the reason behind that not having access to potable water.
If water is free of charge they will not focus on consumption, they will overuse the water and it must charged every month just like every other utilities for instance in my city the last govt made water free of charge because of this citizens were overusing the water the reason behind this they were not worried about utilities bill even sometimes i have noticed in some streets the water was keep running out of tap.
To conclude, I am not completely agree with this statement because having access to potable water can keep away citizens from a lot of dangerous diseases and if water is free cost folks will misuse the water.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, although the stance is slightly contradictory. You argue that water is a human right but then state you do not agree with it being free. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of hygiene and the potential for wastage, but the development is somewhat repetitive. The example regarding the Mumbai slum is specific, but the link between 'cavities' and 'potable water' is scientifically questionable and weakens the argument. To improve, ensure your position is consistent throughout and provide more logical, well-reasoned support for your claims.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or missing. For example, sentences like 'Clean water is basic need of human to live because having clean masses can perform basic hygiene' lack smooth transitions and clear logical flow. There is a reliance on simple conjunctions, and some sentences are run-on or lack proper punctuation, which disrupts the flow of ideas. Using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'nevertheless') would improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You use basic terms like 'bad gut health' and 'not paying any money' which are informal. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'clean masses' and 'water was keep running'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to public policy and resource management. Avoid repetitive phrasing and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary to express your ideas more clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include missing articles ('in Mumbai slum area'), subject-verb agreement errors ('resident don't have'), and punctuation mistakes (run-on sentences). For instance, 'Fresh water must be available to everyone its a human right' should be two separate sentences or joined with a semicolon. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, punctuation, and article usage before attempting more complex structures.
