Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of free water access. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments regarding health and cost are mentioned multiple times without being sufficiently extended or supported with specific, logical reasoning. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully develop the argument. The ideas remain at a surface level, and the lack of depth prevents a higher score. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations and examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices, they are often used incorrectly or repetitively (e.g., 'By this', 'Because', 'It also'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence, as sentences often repeat the same point rather than building upon it. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would greatly enhance the readability of your work.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which hinders the expression of more complex ideas. Phrases like 'very important thing', 'some money', and 'many of the diseases' are basic and lack the precision expected at higher levels. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice and word formation, such as 'assibility' instead of 'accessibility' and 'soend' instead of 'spent'. To improve, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to public policy and health, and practice using synonyms to avoid repeating the same words throughout your essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'everyone have a right', 'the supply... have a right') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for punctuation errors before moving on to more complex grammatical structures.
