Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address the topic of free water supply, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. You present a balanced view by mentioning both the benefits of free water and the potential for wastage, but the lack of depth prevents a full exploration of the prompt. To improve, you must expand your points with specific examples or logical consequences and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for a more comprehensive discussion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'However', their usage is occasionally repetitive or mechanically applied. The transition between the argument for free water and the argument for charging for water is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the overall argument. Improving the flow between sentences will help the reader follow your line of reasoning more effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'difficult to survive water' and 'will leads to healthy life'. You rely on simple, repetitive vocabulary, and there are minor errors in word choice that occasionally hinder the natural flow of the text. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to social policy and economics, and ensure you check for basic word-form errors during your review.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'Well a citizen of democratic country' (missing article/preposition), 'will effect upon' (incorrect verb usage), and 'relay on' (spelling error). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent. While these errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
