Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 172 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. The discussion on the potential for water wastage is relevant but remains superficial. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples to fully address all parts of the prompt. Because the response is substantially under-length, it cannot be awarded a score higher than Band 5 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate, such as the awkward phrasing 'while, human can not survive'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression is hindered by the brevity of the paragraphs. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases more naturally to connect sentences and ideas, ensuring that each paragraph develops a single, clear point before moving to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to express complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'waist water in unnecessary purpose' (should be 'waste water for unnecessary purposes') and 'providing huge water'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to the topic, such as 'utility services', 'resource management', or 'subsidized infrastructure', and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Water is a source of energy which have been using' (subject-verb agreement and passive voice error) and 'without water there be facing many problem' (incorrect verb structure). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences, and those that are attempted often contain errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Proofreading for common errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency is essential.
