Student answer (Band 4.5)

In human rights access to clean water is a very basic right. That is the reason everyone should have free of charge water supply at home. I am convinced that it's very essential.

From my point of view, it is very beneficial for a healthy and sound body or mind. The clear pattern is that better quality water enhance our body health and broad our mind because a sound mind located in a sound body. It not only for better health it also change our nature and abilities of study and work.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 92 words. Because the response is so brief, the ideas are severely underdeveloped. While you state your position clearly, you fail to provide the necessary supporting arguments or examples required for an academic essay. The task asks for a discussion on whether water should be free, but you only touch upon the health benefits of water without addressing the economic or logistical implications of providing it free of charge. To improve, you must expand your arguments and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. There is no introduction, body paragraph, or conclusion. The sentences are loosely connected, and there is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas logically. For example, the transition between the health benefits and the impact on study/work is abrupt. The paragraphing is also non-existent, which makes the text difficult to follow. To improve, you should use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'very basic right' and 'very beneficial' are simplistic and do not demonstrate the range required for higher bands. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'broad our mind' (should be 'broaden') and 'located in a sound body' (should be 'resides in'). You need to incorporate more academic vocabulary and precise collocations to express your ideas more effectively. Focus on using synonyms and more sophisticated phrasing to avoid repetition.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'better quality water enhance' (should be 'enhances') and 'it also change' (should be 'it also changes'). Additionally, the sentence 'It not only for better health it also change...' is grammatically fragmented and lacks a main verb in the first clause. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. You should practice using complex sentence structures and ensure that your subject-verb agreement is consistent throughout your writing.
