Student answer (Band 5.5)

Water supply to every home:

Clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home must have a water supply that is provided free of charge by government.

According to my point of view, Water is necessary for all living being. This is the basic human need . Because it prevents dehydration and helps maintain the body's fluid balance. Water regulate body temperature ,especially through sweating. It also helps maintaining healthy skin by hydration.

So water is the fundamental part of human life . We cannot survive on earth without water. Its the moral duty of government that they should provide water to every home free of charges . Because clean water plays key role in every human life. Clean water helps prevent infection and diseases. significantly It also support plants, animals, agriculture, and ecosystems, making water essential for the environment as well as human life. It is the blessing from Allah Almighty. In the past, the water is purely fresh and clean and it is drinkable. But nowadays water is unclean and unhealthy for human life. It is due to the reason that industries dispose their wastes and chemicals to the land water. Therefore land water is unhealthy to drink. The water must be filtered before drinking to live a healthy life.

Conclusion:

I also agree with examiner point of view. Because clean water is basic human need. Since clean water is healthy for life .We also have to save water. I ended with this quote, '' Save water save lives '' .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health benefits and environmental concerns, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on water pollution is relevant but does not directly address the economic or logistical implications of providing free water, which would have strengthened the argument. The conclusion is also quite brief and introduces a new, slightly irrelevant point about saving water rather than summarizing the main arguments. To improve, focus on expanding your points with more specific examples or counter-arguments to provide a more balanced and thorough discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the structure is quite basic. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive, such as starting multiple sentences with 'Because' or 'Clean water'. There is a lack of sophisticated linking words to connect ideas smoothly between sentences and paragraphs. For example, the transition between the health benefits of water and the environmental impact is abrupt. Additionally, the inclusion of headings like 'Conclusion:' is unnecessary in an IELTS essay and disrupts the flow. Improving the variety of transition signals and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on simple, repetitive phrasing such as 'basic human need' and 'healthy life'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'land water' instead of 'groundwater' or 'surface water', and 'dispose their wastes and chemicals to the land water'. While the meaning is clear, the vocabulary does not demonstrate the flexibility or the use of less common items that would elevate the score. Focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to environmental issues and public policy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Water regulate body temperature'), article usage ('the water is purely fresh'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'significantly It also support'). Some sentences are fragmented or awkwardly phrased, such as 'Its the moral duty of government that they should provide water to every home free of charges'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic errors like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
