Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is one of the most essential and basic requirement of a huaman being , it is used in nearly all the daily chores done by an individual , starting from drinking ,bathing ,cooking cleaning and many more . Therefore I firmly agree that every home should have a water supply that is provided free of charge .
With advancements in the world the popllution has also become more prevelent and specifically water pollution which has resulted in contamination and detoriation of water sources such as rivers , lakes and ponds ,over which people are dependent for thier daily supply of water . Providing them a clean supply of water free of charge eliminates this problem .
In devloping countries where people think rationally for every purchase their would definitely be a proportion of people who would also refuse to pay for the water supply so providing everyone a supply free of charge would cater to this problem , It coule even help the government also as by doing this they could also have a place in the hearts of the public ,therefore it is a win-win situation for both the sides.
An example I would like to discuss is when in my village a women collapsed as there was not even a single clean water supply available near our village and the women of our village had to go as far as 18 kilometers with containers on their head to fill it and come with that filled container the same way this was very disheartening to see .
In conclussion, I would say that providing a clean drinkable water supply to every home free of charge is right and not something the population should request from the government .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits for the government and the public, the arguments lack depth and nuance. For example, the point about people refusing to pay in developing countries is a bit underdeveloped and could have been expanded with more logical reasoning regarding economic feasibility. The personal example provided is relevant and adds a human element, but the essay would benefit from a more balanced discussion of the potential drawbacks or the practical challenges of implementing such a policy to reach a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Therefore', 'In conclusion', and 'For example' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the jump from discussing pollution to the economic argument in the third paragraph lacks a smooth connective transition. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this problem' which could be more explicitly defined to improve the logical progression of your arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent spelling errors such as 'huaman', 'popllution', 'prevelent', 'detoriation', 'devloping', and 'conclussion'. These errors are noticeable and detract from the professional tone of the essay. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'contamination' and 'deterioration', the range is somewhat limited. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations or academic phrases to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Water is... requirement'), punctuation errors (e.g., unnecessary spaces before commas), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'over which people are dependent for thier daily supply'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring that your sentence structures are punctuated correctly to improve the readability of your writing.
