Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's world, clean water supply is available in every home is a basic human right and it would provided free of charge. Although clean water is essential for every human survival, i believe that there should be an amount charged for water use.

Water is a basic needs for human survival, health and hygiene. Water is used by people for various means such as drinking, hygiene, cooking, cleaning and watering plant. Therefore, every human need to use of clean water in a safe manner. Additionaly, every person should access of clean drinking water regardless of its financial situation. It is the responsibility of Government should provide equal water supply for unprivileged people household. The result is all people have equal rights on the basis of water supply. for instance; nowadays new government is provided water access for 24 hours in the rural areas.

However; i do not believe that unlimited water supply should be free of charge for the overpopulated country. If people do not pay anything they might be used water for unnecessary consumption. Its better to used it as a little bit chargeable and fee should be charge according to the location. It leads to wealthy people costs more whereas poor people charge accordingly. MOREOVER, in agriculural purpose water should be used according to farmer for intsance: if a farmer have a small land so they should be charge more and if a farmer have a huge land then the subsidy would be given to that farmer.

In conclusion, WATER supply is essential so there should be eqaul access and goverment should done the subsidy scheme as well. In addition water should be given equally to the person reagading their financial condition.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, arguing that while water is a right, it should not be free to prevent waste. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. The argument regarding agricultural water usage is confusing and contradictory, as the student suggests charging small-scale farmers more than large-scale ones, which is counter-intuitive. While the main points are relevant, the supporting arguments lack depth and logical consistency in places. The conclusion restates the position but introduces a slightly different nuance regarding subsidies that was not fully explored in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Therefore', and 'In addition'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'for instance;' and the misuse of 'MOREOVER' in the third paragraph. The logical progression of ideas is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and sentence structure, making the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be more cohesive to better support the central arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express basic ideas. There are some attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'unprivileged', 'subsidy', and 'consumption'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'used water for unnecessary consumption' instead of 'waste water', and 'government should done the subsidy scheme' instead of 'implement a subsidy scheme'. These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision and sophistication of the writing, keeping it within the Band 6 range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms ('it would provided', 'every human need to use', 'government should done') and article usage. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with misused semicolons and capitalization errors (e.g., 'MOREOVER'). While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student demonstrates an attempt at complex structures, but these are often marred by inaccuracies.
