Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, but the development of ideas is limited. While you mention the importance of water as a human right and the potential for wastage, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'low income families' is mentioned but not fully explored. The conclusion is somewhat vague and does not clearly restate your position or summarize the main points effectively. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea supported by specific examples or logical reasoning rather than listing several points briefly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'In inclusion' are used, but the transitions between sentences are frequently disjointed. For example, the shift from discussing hygiene to 'low income families' in the second paragraph lacks a smooth logical connection. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track the subject of certain sentences. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a more natural flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'vindication' used incorrectly, 'hygenic' (hygienic), 'sanotation' (sanitation), and 'dangue' (dengue). These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent a higher score. Focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and practice using synonyms to avoid repeating words like 'water' and 'harmful' throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'there are several agree points are associated'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper structure, such as 'to explain with'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction significantly impacts the quality of the writing. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence patterns and proofreading for common errors like missing verbs or incorrect pluralization.
