Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 159 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth, examples, and logical extension required for an Academic Task 2 essay. The conclusion is also incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning by providing specific examples—such as the economic impact on governments or the potential for water wastage—and ensure you fully address all parts of the prompt with a structured introduction, body paragraphs, and a complete conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and lack logical progression. Cohesive devices are used sparingly and sometimes incorrectly, such as 'from their the clean water can be accessed,' which creates confusion. The transition between the introduction and the body is weak, and the abrupt ending prevents the essay from having a coherent conclusion. To improve, focus on using linking words like 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'however' to connect your ideas and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence followed by supporting arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive, relying on simple terms like 'clean water' and 'fundamental human need' throughout the text. There are also spelling errors, such as 'privilidged' and 'untill,' and some awkward phrasing, such as 'avail this facility by the government.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas effectively. To improve, try to incorporate more academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider range of language, such as using 'essential resource' instead of 'basic necessity' or 'financial burden' instead of 'extra expenditures.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Our lives, plants etc depends upon this' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'i strongly agreed to the statement' (incorrect tense usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and spacing. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Practice writing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions like 'although' or 'because' to add variety, while ensuring that your grammar remains accurate.
