Student answer (Band 6.0)
It has been argued that availibility of pure water is a primary human right. As a result, governments should provide a free water supply to every home. In my opinion, I firmly disagree with this statement. My preference is explained further.
To begin with, the foremost reason why i disagree is that, if water become free than water pollution will increase, especially major companies consume more water and they release dirty water into rivers which will harm marine life as well as other biodiversity. Moreover, contaminated water needs proper water treatment plants which require a lot funds. Evnetually, it will become finalcially burden on governments. To add to this, infrastructure like water storages, pipelines require a proper maintanence alog with pumping system. These all things not only require funds but also well trained engineers. Hence, authorities can not afford expenses if they provide water free of cost.
Furthermore, another comelling reason is that wastage of water will become increase. People will utilise more water, they will unnecessarily wash their vehicles then waste it in to clean dishes. Additionally, excessive use of water leads to water scarcity too. Water from dams, rivers, lakes and stepwells might be decrease due to over use of water. As a result, it will be dangerous for all human beings, animals and plants too because they might not get enough water supply.
In conclusion, indeed clear water is necessary. However, it should not be free of cost because problems such as water scarcity, consumption, risk to aquatic life may be arise. so that, there should be an efficient cost is require of for residents.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against free water supply. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic burdens, infrastructure maintenance, and the risk of water wastage. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding industrial pollution is not fully linked to the concept of 'free' water, as industries would likely still be regulated regardless of household pricing. The conclusion is clear, but the supporting points could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors (e.g., 'These all things'). Referencing is generally clear, but the internal structure of some sentences could be improved to enhance the logical progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'biodiversity', 'infrastructure', and 'water scarcity'. However, there are several spelling errors ('availibility', 'Evnetually', 'finalcially', 'maintanence', 'alog', 'comelling') and some awkward phrasing ('efficient cost is require of'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise collocations to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('if water become free', 'wastage of water will become increase', 'problems... may be arise') and incorrect article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often hindered by these persistent errors. To improve, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tense usage throughout the essay.
