Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While the essay attempts to link water to health and sustainability, the arguments are often unclear or logically disconnected. For example, the link between 'free charge' and 'eliminating bacteria' is not well-explained, and the connection to 'Planet atmosphere temperature' is vague and lacks relevance to the core argument of water as a human right. The ideas are presented but lack the depth and logical progression required for a higher band. The essay stays on topic, but the supporting points are frequently confusing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'The main rationale is that' and 'To demonstrate' are used, but they do not always connect the ideas logically. There are also issues with referencing; for instance, 'citizen of its countries' is unclear. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, making it difficult to follow the writer's line of reasoning. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal flow of information needs significant improvement to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'provided to constructed a water supply in free charge' and 'domestic surrounding'. The phrase 'free charge' is used repeatedly instead of 'free of charge' or 'provided at no cost'. The student attempts to use more academic vocabulary like 'Sustainable Development Goals' and 'infrastructure', but these are often used incorrectly or in contexts that do not make sense. The range is sufficient to express basic ideas, but the lack of precision and frequent errors in word formation hinder the overall quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('every houses should be', 'citizen of its countries is'), article usage, and sentence structure ('I will going to discuss'). Complex sentence attempts are often faulty, such as 'access to clean water enables to increase citizen satisfaction', which is grammatically incomplete. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high density of errors in basic structures prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The writer relies heavily on simple structures, and attempts at complexity are rarely error-free.
