Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's era, the clean water is a mandatory need of the human being because of their daily uses, and it is a basic human right as well due to which government needs to provide the free charge water supplies. I partially agreed with the above statements and upcoming paragraphs will discuss the reasons behind this statement.
On the one hand, the water supply needs to be unpaid for everyone because the water plays very essential role in the human life, not only for household work but also for physical health. Secondly, the charges are applied for every service which are supplied to houses but water is a natural resource which needs to be charge free. So, every community person can afford it, if they belong to below poverty line. For Example; In 2021, the India government removed the charges from water supplies in the areas where is the shortage of water resources and the poor people stay.
On the other hand, if the authorities will allow the free water supply, then people will use water freely for the work but also misuse. No one will know the real value of the water and do the wastage of the water. For Instance, In India, the festivals like Holi, everyone like to play with colour and water. During that festival, a lot of people waste the water just to celeb

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by presenting a partially agreed position. However, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full development of the argument and a clear conclusion. The under-length (229 words) is a significant issue as it limits the depth of the discussion. While the ideas are relevant, the lack of a proper conclusion and the unfinished nature of the final paragraph mean that the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you complete your arguments and provide a summary that reinforces your position, while also meeting the minimum word count requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand' to organize ideas. However, the progression is interrupted by the abrupt ending of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the logical flow is hindered by the incomplete final paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall structure feels mechanical. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph is fully developed with a clear topic sentence and supporting evidence, leading to a cohesive conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There are some awkward collocations, such as 'free charge water supplies' instead of 'free-of-charge water supply' and 'community person' instead of 'member of the community'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'subsidized', 'resource management', or 'socio-economic implications'. Avoid repeating the same words frequently and focus on using collocations that sound more natural in an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'the clean water is a mandatory need' (unnecessary article), 'due to which government needs' (missing article), and 'where is the shortage' (incorrect word order). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often clunky. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practice writing complex sentences with subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate better control over grammatical range while ensuring accuracy.
