Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is human right to have access of clean water which is a basic human need that is why every household should be provided with clean water with free of charge. I agree with this point because every living being has need of clean water either for drinking or cleaning.

Some people believe that charging money for water will help government not only improve economy of a country but also asset on limiting usage of h20. Owing to this many individuals use water carelessly along with that waste tones of water in months, however this is the main reason for putting fee and charging people for liquid. For example, in many countries in their rural area water is free and for that reason, people use it carelessly the reason is water is wasted in tons. I believe charging for clean water is genuine for many authorities to stop citizens on wastage of water.

Some people argue that water is a basic need for humans, animals and other specie too Besides paying for drinking water is not genuine as well as it is a natural source and every human being has a right to have water free of cost. For example, in developed cities people pay high prices for basic imanities, like electricity, gas, house tax and high cost in food as well along with that charging them for basic human need which is water is worth less. However, government can take action on those who waste a lot of water by charging them with high challans and giving them warning as well as letting them do some community work. By doing this authorities are not only saving water but also helping public by granting them water free of cost.

In conclusion, water is basic human need and if charging citizens for clean water is not worth along with that people who waste water should be punished and authorities can save water by doing this not letting individuals charging for it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have presented arguments for both sides, acknowledging the economic and conservationist perspective before arguing for free access with alternative regulatory measures. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully extended with more specific, logical reasoning rather than restating the same concept. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall development of the argument lacks the depth required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'however', 'for example', and 'in conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'along with that waste tones of water in months, however this is the main reason'. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, which occasionally disrupts the reader's ability to follow the progression of your argument. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You rely on basic phrasing and occasionally use words incorrectly, such as 'asset on limiting usage' (likely meaning 'assist') and 'worth less' (meaning 'worthless'). There are also some informal or imprecise choices like 'h20' and 'challans'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to public policy and resource management. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repeating words like 'water' and 'charge' so frequently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles (e.g., 'It is human right'), incorrect preposition usage (e.g., 'access of clean water'), and subject-verb agreement errors. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from being considered fluent. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and pluralization to improve your accuracy.
