Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health risks like dengue and skin cancer, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. The example regarding South Africa is relevant but lacks sufficient detail to fully support the argument. The response tends to over-generalize, and the connection between the government's role and the economic feasibility of providing free water is not explored. To improve, focus on expanding your arguments with more logical reasoning rather than just listing health concerns, and ensure the conclusion directly addresses the prompt's core tension between rights and economic responsibility.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Transitions are used, such as 'firstly' and 'other hand', but they are often misused or placed awkwardly, such as 'At the end' instead of 'In conclusion'. The referencing is frequently unclear; for instance, the transition between the health risks and the government's responsibility is abrupt. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, which hinders the flow of the argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words correctly and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that logically leads to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'water', 'clean', and 'free'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'tuck bath' (likely meaning 'take a bath') and 'drunk this water' (should be 'drank'). Some phrases are awkward, such as 'maintain the water density', which does not make sense in this context. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To improve, try to learn collocations related to public policy and health, and focus on using more precise verbs and adjectives to describe the issues.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('contaminated water is spread the so many disease'), article usage ('the clean water'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, making them difficult to parse. The use of complex structures is attempted but is almost always inaccurate, such as 'government should to provide'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb-object patterns, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
