Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people believe that human basic rights include having access to clean water, which is free of cost and is available to everyone at their home. I agree with this notion.
In todays world, industrialization is on the rise. This development has caused an increase in water pollution. Consequently, water bodies near these industrial sites have been largely affected. For instance, In Pakistan people from low income backgrounds consume this water which is injurious to health, as it's free of cost. This infected water has raised concerns for multiple health issues, such as bacterial infections caused from cholera, in all age groups. This can also cause as a reason for financial constrain for them.
Increased expenses and taxes have made affording clean water challenging for some people now a days. I believe it is the responsibility of every government to provide each individual with pure water for drinking and for other household activities. This method of supplying free clean water for people can be achieved by advertising brands on water bottles. These brands can pay for promoting their brands and as a result we can obtain these water bottles for free. For example, I saw a start up company in Pakistan that provides free drinking water to its customers, by following the same marketing method.
In conclusion, Drinking clean water is a human's basic right and no one citizen should pay for it. The spread of water borne diseases should be prevented by the governments, by taking precautionary steps and marketing strategies that benefits the civilians.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed the prompt by clearly stating your agreement with the idea that water should be free. You provided relevant reasons, such as the impact of industrial pollution and the financial burden on low-income families. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. While the suggestion of using advertising to fund water supply is creative, it is not fully explored in terms of its feasibility or scalability. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting arguments are more thoroughly explained and linked back to the core concept of water as a human right rather than just a logistical solution.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Consequently,' 'For instance,' and 'In conclusion,' which help the reader follow your argument. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the jump from discussing health issues to the financial constraints of water access could be smoother. Additionally, ensure that pronouns and references are always clear to avoid ambiguity. Overall, the structure is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'industrialization,' 'injurious,' and 'precautionary.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'human basic rights' (should be 'basic human rights') and 'financial constrain' (should be 'financial constraints'). You also rely on some repetitive phrasing. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure that your word forms are accurate. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. However, there are several grammatical errors, including punctuation issues (e.g., 'In todays world,' 'For instance, In Pakistan'), missing articles, and subject-verb agreement errors (e.g., 'no one citizen should pay'). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic punctuation, apostrophes in possessives, and consistent article usage. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while maintaining accuracy will also help elevate your score.
