Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide reasons for your agreement, such as financial savings for households, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. The third paragraph introduces a counter-argument regarding water wastage, but it is not well-integrated into the overall flow of the essay. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explained with specific examples or logical consequences rather than just stating the idea. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not effectively synthesize the points discussed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'Proving further' and 'before arriving on suitable conclusion'. There are instances where the logical progression between sentences is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the main arguments and the counter-argument is abrupt. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help create a smoother flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'money', 'water', and 'things'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'masses utilize these money' and 'they are hardly manage their expenditure'. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of errors in word formation (e.g., 'house hold' instead of 'household') limit your score. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more academic collocations and precise terminology related to the topic of public services and economics.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Water play's crucial role', 'every house had better have'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are simple or contain errors that make them difficult to parse, such as 'they have not invest money on drinkable water instead of dirty water'. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and pluralization will significantly improve your clarity.
