Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is one of the vital columns of life and its availability is crucial for every human being and any creature on earth, therefore no one should pay to get a basic life need. I believe that its a crime if water is not available for every living organism.
Accessing to clean water is essential for human health and development, and without it life will not proceed. Humans from the beginning of life on earth needed water to continue their lives they of course used it for drinking, cooking, washing and cleaning.
Water was always a great factor the influence where people used to live and where they traveled, it was the main goal of a lot of long travels.
In my opinion, clean water should be available without asking or paying for it, and its sad that these days we see people in many spots on earth die due to lack of water or to see them crave for only drops of water. Meanwhile, we see people who pay water in a high price that they even use it as any comercial product.
In conclusion, clean water should be accessible for every human on this earth, and we should also use new technologies to produce more clean water from the rain, sea, rivers, oceans or any source of water on earth, and we should distribute it equally to the whole world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position, but it fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 232 words. This under-length significantly impacts the development of ideas. While the main argument is present, the supporting points are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the discussion on the historical importance of water is vague and does not directly support the argument regarding free provision. To improve, you should expand on the economic or social implications of free water, providing more concrete examples or counter-arguments to fully develop your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are often abrupt, such as the jump between the historical context and the current opinion in the second and third paragraphs. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to create a smoother flow between ideas. Additionally, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly relates to your main thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'vital columns' (which is an incorrect collocation) and 'great factor'. There are also some errors in word choice, such as 'pay water' instead of 'pay for water' and 'comercial' (spelling error). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'universal access', 'socio-economic burden', or 'infrastructure'. Expanding your range of collocations will help you convey your ideas more naturally and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally hinder clarity. Examples include 'Accessing to clean water' (incorrect verb pattern), 'its a crime' (missing apostrophe), and 'influence where people used to live' (incorrect verb form). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation. Additionally, try to vary your sentence structures by using more complex forms, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, while ensuring they are grammatically accurate.
