Student answer (Band 6.5)
As access to potable water is a basic human right, nations should provide free and clean water supply to each and every household. I do agree with this statement because clean drinking water is a fundamental necessity for a healthy and progressive population, especially in underdeveloped countries. Additionally, it is also necessary in countries where people can not afford to drink fresh water.
First of all, as fresh water is a very important resource for the development of healthy human resource, it should be provided for free. As water is a basic need for each and every human being all over the globe, people have a right to get it for free. Moreover, as many individuals, especially in underdeveloped countries, may not be able to pay for water, they may end up consuming water that is unfit for drinking. Thus, in order to avoid that scenario, clean drinking water should be available at no cost.
On the other hand, there are also arguments that people may not value the fresh water, if it is provided to them for free, which would ultimately result in the wastage of this vital resource. There are various festivals like Holi in India, for instance, where people celebrate using fresh water which ultimately results in its wastage. In order to counter this, government should launch various awareness drives and campaigns so that individuals give due consideration to such an important resource.
To conclude, as safe and clean drinking is basic right of humans and very important for the growth of healthy population in any country, it should be provided all over the world for free of charge while, some challenges like reduced importance given to free resource can be dealt using active measures by the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have presented a main argument for providing free water and acknowledged a counter-argument regarding potential wastage. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the first and second paragraphs both emphasize that water is a 'basic need' and 'human right' without adding significant new depth. To reach a higher band, you should aim to extend your arguments with more specific evidence or nuanced reasoning, such as discussing the economic implications for governments or the potential for tiered pricing systems to balance rights with conservation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Additionally,' 'First of all,' 'Moreover,' and 'On the other hand' to signal transitions. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'as' and 'because' to start sentences. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between ideas could be improved by varying the sentence structure and using more sophisticated referencing to avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'potable,' 'fundamental necessity,' and 'vital resource.' However, the vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive; for example, 'fresh water' and 'clean water' are used frequently. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'provided all over the world for free of charge,' which sounds slightly unnatural. To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and synonyms to avoid repeating the same basic descriptors throughout the essay.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'In order to counter this, government should launch...' and 'As access to potable water is a basic human right, nations should provide...'. While your meaning is always clear, there are persistent minor errors, such as missing articles ('government should launch' instead of 'the government should launch') and occasional awkward phrasing. The majority of your sentences are understandable, but the lack of variety in complex structures and the presence of these small grammatical slips prevent a higher score.
