Student answer (Band 5.0)

Water is must needed thing for life. Access to clean water is a basic human right. Therefore every home should have a water supply in free. I definatly agree with that opinion.

Firstly, as i said water is very crucial for life , everyone should get proper clean water for daily life . For everyday life it can not be imagine without water. everyone needs water for every type of work. For shower ,cleaning home and other things to cooking we need water in every step of our life. If everyone do not get clean water free it is going to be very difficult to survive for middle class and poor peoples. people have to income for various things in life if water is also included with that it would be so stressful.

Then coming to the second reason, not getting efficient clean water for drinking can be the reason of various disease . Without pure water a healthy life cannot be leading. It is very important to drink a certain amount of water in a day. If people have to pay for water it is gonna be very wrong for those who can not buy proper amount of water to survive . For healthy life of peoples water should be free of charges in every houses

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 217 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and repetitive. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the supporting points lack depth and specific examples. To improve, you must expand on your reasoning by providing concrete evidence or hypothetical scenarios that illustrate the economic or social impact of water pricing. The current length prevents a fully developed response, which is a requirement for higher bands.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple transitions like 'Firstly' and 'Then'. Some sentences lack logical flow, such as the transition between the importance of water and the mention of middle-class survival. To improve, you should use a wider variety of linking words and phrases (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in light of this') to connect ideas more fluidly and improve the overall progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'things', 'work', and 'good/wrong' rather than more precise academic alternatives. There are also issues with word formation and collocation, such as 'in free' instead of 'free of charge' and 'income for various things' instead of 'expenditure'. To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate a broader range of topic-specific vocabulary related to public policy, economics, and human rights, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone do not get'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'it can not be imagine'). You rely almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. To improve, you should practice using complex sentences with subordinate clauses (e.g., 'Although water is a fundamental necessity, the economic implications of providing it for free are complex'). Focusing on basic accuracy, such as pluralization and verb tense consistency, is essential before attempting more complex structures.
