Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of free water supply. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The arguments focus almost exclusively on the physiological benefits of drinking water (e.g., 'keep hydrate', 'kidney stones') rather than addressing the socio-economic or political implications of the 'basic human right' argument. The ideas are somewhat under-developed, and the conclusion introduces new, slightly disjointed suggestions like 'cleaning water machines' which were not previously discussed. To improve, you should focus on the broader societal impact of free water access, such as public health improvements or economic equity, rather than just the biological necessity of hydration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'As according to one survey' is grammatically awkward and redundant. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, and the logical progression within paragraphs is hindered by repetitive phrasing. While the overall arrangement is coherent enough to follow, the lack of sophisticated linking words and the repetitive nature of the arguments make the flow feel somewhat disjointed. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used naturally would significantly enhance the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or collocation, such as 'keeps way numerous diseases' (should be 'keeps away' or 'prevents') and 'drinking body' (which is nonsensical in context). The repetition of basic terms like 'human body' and 'government duty' limits the lexical variety. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of control over more sophisticated vocabulary and the frequent errors in word formation prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('I completely agrees'), article usage ('a basic human right to access a clean water'), and pluralization ('each and every citizens'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing after periods and commas. While the meaning is usually understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures significantly impacts the readability of the text. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and ensuring consistent punctuation throughout your writing.
