Student answer (Band 5.5)
Water is the basic element for human survival. In human body, almost 70% are filled with water. The two-third part of the world are filled by water but not every portion is drinkable. It is a basic human right to access these little percentage of clean drinkable water. And of course I firmly believe it should be free of any charge.
As I mentioned earlier, there is little percentage of drinkable water is available and to drink that, the same water needs to go through some essential process. In cities, government usually do the necessary process to clean the water and to be more safe, some consumer boil the water. But what governments does to clean the water is mostly safe to drink. But in some cities like Dhaka, government charges the people for the supply of clean water. Many poor families have to rely on the main street public connection because they can not afford private connection. It is really shameful as water is a basic human right.
There are more disease lurking in the shadows of water. As water filled most of the percentage of our body, most severe disease are occurred by water. Such as cholera, diarhoa and many more. To safeguard against those disease, clean water is must for everybody and it should be free of cost. Every home should have a decent water supply line.
In conclusion, i strongly believe, every household despite of their economic status, should have a decent water supply tha is provided free of charge.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the importance of water as a human right and the health risks associated with contaminated water, the arguments could be more deeply explored. For instance, you touch upon the economic burden on poor families in Dhaka, which is a strong point, but it lacks a broader discussion on the economic feasibility or the potential consequences of providing free water for all. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides more detailed reasoning and perhaps a counter-argument or a more nuanced perspective on the implementation of such a policy.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the health implications and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'As I mentioned earlier', 'In conclusion'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the flow between the government's role and the specific example of Dhaka could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'basic element', 'clean', and 'safe'. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'most severe disease are occurred by water' (should be 'caused by') and 'there is little percentage of drinkable water is available' (grammatically awkward). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to public policy, economics, and health, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations to ensure your meaning is conveyed accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('most severe disease are occurred'), article misuse ('the two-third part'), and awkward phrasing ('there is little percentage of drinkable water is available'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the accuracy and readability of your work.
